BIRDLAND EDITORIAL BLOG 2019/2020: 5.2359877677 + 6.2831853189 = 11.5191730866

I have been quite busy for the last year; therefore I never published a Birdland Editorial Blog in 2019. But I am now making up for it by created this double edition covering 2019 and 2020...Every edition adds one third of pi starting at 1.0471975512 (one third of pi and/or 3.14159265359 =1.0471975512) so to make up for lost time and do something creative I have added edition # 5.2359877677 + edition # 6.2831853189 to equal 11.5191730866...For perhaps no other good reason than to show everyone how intelligent I really am and/or to make up for lost time...

SOLAR PANELS @ PETERSON FIELD -- 16 JUN 2018

Welcome to the latest edition of the Birdland Editorial Blog.

The first thing I wanted to comment on is that I am a bit concerned that Birdland Neighborhood boundaries are perhaps not being represented properly by the map seen below that I found on a Google search. The implications of this could affect local property values; so I will attempt to set the record straight using obvious and readily available public evidence.

PARTIAL BIRDLAND NEIGHBORS MAP FOUND ONLINE
THE ACTUAL SUNNYVALE BIRDLAND NEIGHBORS REGION

The way I see it; Birdland Neighbors essentially consists of everything in between Lawrence Expressway; Wolfe Road; El Camino Real and Homestead Road. But the partial first Birdland map seen above shows a more limited Birdland Neighbors region.

Basically; everywhere that bird-oriented street names exist is Birdland; so the first map is not correct. For instance; Wood Duck Avenue is in an area that actually used to have wood ducks living in trees. Surrounding orchards and wild lands were destroyed for the Lake Terrace Apartments etc; and this all happened before I moved into the neighborhood around the spring of 1967. But just because the wood ducks are long gone does not mean it is not part of the Birdland Neighborhood.

Long ago the Birdland Neighborhood had more song birds and/or birds in general than it does now. For instance; ever since the cherry orchard that used to be behind Laurelwood School was razed and developed; the biological diversity in the Birdland Neighborhood has gone way down.

The Nature Area at Peterson used to be part of the old Citraro Family farm where the Citraro Family house was located. An old man named Mister Smith used to walk his dogs every morning at the Peterson field during almost the entire history of the Peterson parcel going way back; and he told me there used to be a house located where the nature area now sits; likely the original Citraro Family house. Mr. Smith also said there was a very large flock of crows that lived in the trees surrounding the house; and that the crows of Birdland are largely from that original flock of birds.

"Starting in 1969 when Peterson was a High School, Dan Baer and Bryan Osborne started construction on the Peterson Natural Area.  It was designed to model eight different biological communities.  Their mission was to provide corresponding lab or field experiences for every biological concept taught in the classroom.  In addition, they demonstrated that through hard work, we could make a difference with environmental issues.  Most importantly, they wanted students to have contact with nature realizing that our students were becoming more isolated from nature.  Our mission remains the same.  The Natural Area has served many functions over the last 40 plus years.  It has primarily served as a local field trip site that could be visited on a regular basis, for Peterson students, and students throughout the district.  It has been a place where students could make a positive change to their environment through restoration activities.  The natural area provides refuge for students and teachers looking to escape the hustle-bustle of a busy campus to relax and seek inspiration.  It also functions as an ecological island attracting and supporting a wide range of biodiversity..."

Note: The natural area is also a place where an ex-Peterson High School student took acid and tripped out for 4 days; totally freaking out his parents...

But! Just because the biological diversity has gone way down in the Birdland Neighborhood region does not mean all is lost; you can create your own backyard wildlife habitat on your own...

WILD PARROTS OF SUNNYVALE
One day many years ago I heard a commotion going on in the backyard; so I went outside and saw a large flock of loud birds in one of the large trees in our backyard. I  believe those birds were the same Parrots who eventually made their way all the way to San Francisco; some of which I theorize stayed in Sunnyvale as well.

Therefore; I can say without a shadow of a doubt that these birds initially made their way to this region as a flock that originated somewhere; perhaps a pet store in Pasadena that burned down many years ago. It is probably a mixture of both theories that brought the Parrots to this region. The alleged pet store was for all intents and purposes a pet owner of sorts; and it is known that birds were released from this store. Similarly; a neighbor of mine found an injured Parrot at a park in Sunnyvale a few years back and he kept it at home until it was healed then released it...

"There are a number of theories. A commonly held belief is that the parrots were released by a woman who was having a psychotic break and subsequently burned down the pet store where they were housed. This is partially true. A pet store did burn down in Pasadena, but the woman was an employee of sound mind simply trying to save the birds. The parrots in San Francisco most likely weren't released from the fire in Pasadena.

More likely, the San Francisco conures escaped or were purposely released by pet owners. The conures can live for decades, and they're loud and demanding pets, so not everyone is suited to caring for them. While some may have escaped, Jamie Yorck, the owner of the now-closed Spectrum Exotic Birds, believes that a few owners may simply have left a window open hoping their birds would join the wild flock..."

"San Francisco has its famous wild parrots of Telegraph Hill.  Just down the road however, about 60 miles, in the Silicon Valley community of Sunnyvale, another flock of parrots also lives and thrives out in the wild. Perhaps they don’t enjoy the same notoriety as their SF cousins, but they are just as regal and an odd and remarkable spectacle enjoyed by all those who see them. Known for some time by local residents, I ran across the parrots about 15 years ago, when I first moved to Sunnyvale. After leaving an Orchard Supply (OSH) store in the neighborhood, I heard some loud unfamiliar-sounding birds squawking above.

When I watched for the birds as I drove away from the store, I found them perched in the trees and on the rooftop of a nearby white stucco apartment building, just next to the OSH store.  Bright green with splotches of red, with their distinctive beaks. Yes, these were parrots!  Instantly recognizable and such an odd and wonderful sight..."

BIRDLAND EDITORIAL BLOG / 3.1415926653

CALABAZAS CREEK / 6 DECEMBER 2014
I decided the main theme of the latest Birdland Free Press is FREEEDOM. Freedom for chickens; freedom for humans and their children. Freedom in general. When I grew up in this valley; children actually had constitutional rights and freedom -- nowadays not so much. And now that children don't have any rights; the rights of adults are eroding as well. So I took an excerpt from my Facebook page (see text below) and made it part of the latest Birdland Editorial Blog to make sense of all this.

Many modern parents are afraid to let their children outside to play; while freedom is not as dangerous as most parents are led to think. On the other hand; Donald Trump cannot go outside unattended either; but he has good reason to stay inside and hide. So many people want to harm Mister Trump that he has to stay for the most part hidden away and protected by the Secret Service because he is so afraid of what he has created. This is real danger. So stop worrying about your kids...let them go outside and play...just because Donald Trump cannot do this does not mean your children have to stay inside all the time as well.

My Bradshaw-ian inner child is suffering seeing children with no freedom; with the freedom of summer diminishing; slowly becoming nothing more than an educational extension of the work/slavery system many of them will inevitably submit to; nothing more than another form of child slavery.

FORGET ABOUT COMMON CORE ~ 2+2=4? In the future; computers will likely be robotically largely self-programmed; eliminating and/or reducing the need for common core code...robots will eventually replace humans; and the 1% who has most of the money will inevitably and/or eventually be forced to give some of that money back to the ill-affected...don't believe my robot talk? well, what about drum machines which attempted to replace drummers with robots? luckily drum machines cannot replace a drummer and never will -- but they did help break up a band i was in when i refused to copy the way the drum machine was programmed...and what about 'rock band' fake guitars; which are for all intents and purposes guitar robots? long before drum machines there were automated gas pumps; replacing gas station workers....and calculators that caused you to forget the math you once learned...if this ugly trend keeps up; eventually everything will be done for us and we won't even have to think anymore...HAL 9000 will take over...but maybe that's a good thing...hmmm...

And remember; my Mother passed away when I was ten years old; but life did not end for me there. I had more freedom than most children even back in the 1970s; and long ago overcame my fears about the outside world. I fearlessly drive all over the valley now as a distribution driver; and even traveled far and wide with a rock band many years ago. It would have been better to have my Mother around; but then I probably would not be a drummer and would have taken an entirely different path in life.

MY FAMILY / CIRCA 1960s
And do you know how many baby animals unfortunately get separated from their Mothers in the wild? This is a rather unfortunate yet common occurrence in nature. So don't worry about your children; because "the only thing to fear is fear itself"; as they will thrive and figure things out eventually anyway even without your presence.

The bottom line is: I have come to the firm conclusion that government and/or the police are more dangerous than anything else. That and speeding vehicles using the Waze.com app.

THIS IS A SECTION OF CALABAZAS CREEK IN SANTA CLARA THAT WAS WIDENED DURING THE 1990S TO ALLOW FOR LARGER VOLUMES OF WATER; AND TO CREATE A RIPARIAN ENVIRONMENT -- WITHOUT THESE IMPROVEMENT THIS CREEK WOULD HAVE LIKELY OVERFLOWED LAST WINTER...
The raised island section in the middle of the creek has a big old oak tree that used to have a tree fort in it when the creek used to cut through the middle of a cherry orchard right behind the elementary school I once attended. There was also a place to sit on the edge of the creek under the oak tree called the "KB spot" (kick back spot) where local kids like me and others used to hang out and play when we were young; and later on in high school lived a secret life away from our parents; not incarcerated at home in our rooms staring at dumb phones taking selfies of ourselves like many youngsters apparently do nowadays. In other words; the way kids should still be allowed to live.

A neighbor once told me that Wood Duck Avenue actually had wood ducks living in orchard trees along Calabazas Creek. The wood ducks are long gone; but mallard ducks are still thriving here in Birdland Neighborhood.

QUESTION: WHY DID IT TAKE THE CITY OF SUNNYVALE
13 YEARS TO INSTALL THIS TRAFFIC CIRCLE?
Note: Allow me to reiterate; dangerous multi-ton projectiles (in other words; vehicles) are the real danger to the safety of children; not people -- not in Sunnyvale anyway -- cars and/or speeders are the most dangerous thing in this neighborhood and/or valley.

TRAFFIC CALMING IN MOUNTAIN VIEW -- SUNNYVALE NEEDS MORE TRAFFIC CALMING; AS DO ALL NEIGHBORHOODS SURROUNDING THE NEW APPLE SPACESHIP -- IN THE FUTURE I WILL BE COLLABORATING WITH CUPERTINO PLANNING COMMISSIONER DON SUN (WHO I WORK FOR PART TIME) TO FIND AN ALL-ENCOMPASSING SOLUTION FOR THIS VEXXING NEIGHBORHOOD TRAFFIC PROBLEM -- CUPERTINO HAS THE BEST TRAFFIC CALMING SOLUTIONS IN THE SILICON VALLEY...
One time in elementary school Dave Soper and I trudged all the way from about the KB spot upstream all the way up to Bollinger Road in Cupertino. We split a bag of fries at Mcdonalds with mud up to our necks; then walked back home. At one point it was like quicksand and I dropped down in a section of bog!

(I do not recommend this kind of behavior because it can be rather disruptive to the sensitive creek environment; especially during spring reproduction time)

Downstream near Lawrence Expressway there used to be another large oak tree with a tree swing that I saw people swinging on over a raging Calabazas Creek during a storm once. I think David Cunningham was there that day. His parents' house was about 50 feet from the creek in a court.

One time in high school Kip Bautista and I got high and walked over to Winchell's at Homestead Road and Lawrence Expressway and then went over to Mcdonalds; I was laughing so hard I couldn't keep a straight face. Calabazas Creek was the highest I had ever seen; and was later widened to avoid catastrophic flooding.

Walking through mud while cutting through Laurelwood Elementary School (my old elementary school) that night; Kip and I had so much mud on our feet at one point Kip said "Gene Simmons!" (see: KISS) because it looked like we were wearing big muddy boots. Just had to add that in there...

As recently as a decade ago I went down into the creek and created pools out of available stones to create better habitat for frog reproduction; and one time in 6th grade I collected insects for a class experiment there. I can say the biological diversity has plummeted since the orchard has gone; even with the pesticides they likely once used on the cherry trees.

My friends and I used to cut through the orchard on the way home from school during cherry season. I would fill my baseball cap full of cherries during my walk home. There were also legends of a farmer with a salt pellet gun who would shoot at kids if they stole any cherries!?! Some of my friends would occasionally call out "FARMER!" just to freak everyone out while taking cherries.

Tom "Tuumi" Meier and one of his elementary school classes once discovered pollution that was destroying the creek habitat; which led to one of the biggest Superfund cleanup sites in California right up the creek from this spot after the class reported the pollution to government.

The water under the bridge at street overpasses would sometimes get blocked by shopping carts and other debris that caught tree branches and clogged the creek; causing occasional minor flooding to houses along the banks. Bill Hoff knows all about that. Because of this; the underpasses in this section were also doubled and made square instead of a single large round pipe to increase water volumes and/or flow. <><><>

I have lived in the Birdland Neighborhood for over 50 years now. My friends and I used to play all kinds of games; many of which we made up. My neighbors the Martinez family were heavily involved in youth sports (P.A.L.; Sunnyvale Metro Little League etc) so I always had friends to play with. The Martinez brothers were especially adept at making up their own games. Tennis baseball for instance...

We used to get two tennis rackets and a few tennis balls and stand at opposite ends of a field. Boom! Fun! Or soccer basketball. We used to get some friends and a soccer ball and use the outdoor Peterson basketball courts as a soccer field; then try to kick the ball between the basketball backboard posts and score a goal! Or we used to just play a game of H.O.R.S.E. -- either way; staying active is the key to good health.

"Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood..." -- Fred Rogers

The more parents try to control their kids when they are young; the more they can end up avoiding them later in life when they really need them; and/or the further they can move away from you (physically and emotionally) in response. I have seen this happen time after time. But maybe this is what some parents want (every parent is not perfect and/or necessarily a good parent; many parents became parents through sexually reproductive default). Just remember to learn how to dephicer between 'danger' and 'regnad'. Regnad is the opposite of danger; although it can seem quite dangerous on the surface -- if you look a little deeper it's actually quite innocuous...for instance; there's a lot of regnad on TV.

MEDIA TRAUMATIZATION IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MUCH OF THIS UNNECESSARY PARANOIA; SO SHUT OFF YOUR TELEVISIONS AND/OR COMPUTERS AND JUST LIVE YOUR LIVES...

ELVIS PRESLEY ONCE SHOT HIS TELEVISION!?
DON'T SHOOT YOUR TELEVISION!
And the last thing I wanted to comment on is Mothers. My Mother used to be friends with all of the ladies in the neighborhood so I could go over to any friends' house to give my Mom a break. Kippy Derose for instance; my Mom got along good with Kippy's Mom so I used to hang out at Kippy's house all the time. And I have been seeing other good Mothers in the neighborhood doing the same thing lately; I don't want to name names but just let it be known that you're doing a good job Mom! :)

NOTE: My old friend Paul Citraro came from a family who once owned the Peterson property; and he later attended Peterson with his little brother Neil. Peterson High School actually used to be a farm; and the Peterson Nature area is where the Citraro's old house used to be -- so to have that same field become agricultural once again is absolutely wonderful and definitely a blessing. But just remember that freedom is a blessing too; not to be taken for granted. Freedom with responsibility...

NO KIDS ARE GOING TO EVER PLAY ON THIS FIELD AS LONG AS THESE UNNECESSARY;
LARGELY IGNORED AND THREATENING SIGNS REMAIN POSTED --
HAVE A FUN AND HIGHLY REGULATED SCUSD SUMMER?!

BIRDLAND EDITORIAL BLOG / 2.0943951024

 REST IN PEACE MISSY CAT
As previously reported; after 16 years of life Missy Cat was put to sleep on Christmas Day 2015 after being attacked by a dog walker (see photo below) and as I said before; my gut level feeling is this was done on purpose and/or in a premeditated fashion.

About a month ago I saw someone walking a dog who looked exactly like the person of interest seen in the photo below walking down Bluebird Avenue in Santa Clara; so I followed him down the street and at one point he looked back and seemed surprised to see me; then suddenly mysteriously disappeared RIGHT NEXT TO THE OLD PAOLINETTI RESIDENCE!?! And I have not seen this person of interest since.

I then emailed this information to Officers Fuji and Gantt; but I have not heard back about from them about this yet. Either way; I will find this person and bring justice to this situation one way or another. And that's a promise.

Moving right along...the various people who got me ejected from Nextdoor.com in the days after Missy's death will be exposed soon in The Addendum Blog 2.

People like Tap Merrick and friends of his who were actually stupid enough to vote for him. There is a scourge of unconstitutional online activity going on right now as society struggles to deal with this new world wide web concept; and unconstitutional user agreements are often feeding these violations.

The truth is; all civil rights etc you supposedly have in regular life apply to your online life as well; even though courts have not necessarily fully addressed this issue yet.

Dotcoms like Nextdoor.com who allow neighborhood cliques to gang up on certain individuals -- then block them like some sort of online vigilante justice -- need to be constitutionally regulated. This kind of rights violation could be easily and equally maliciously abused by everyone from cops who want to silence people for speaking out (like what happened to me on the Birdland Neighbors Yahoo site a few years back; disallowing me to have equal protection of rights to inform people in the neighborhood about important subjects -- and therefore violating my civil rights in the process) to organized crime interests who want the same kind of silence that police often do -- to petty mean spirited psychopathic neighbors who just want to hurt individuals they for whatever reason dislike; usually on an ideological basis.

We are now at the start of the new online revolution; with many civil rights etc issues yet to be worked out. (while it took nearly 14 years to draft and ratify the First Amendment of the United States Constitution; it has been roughly 20 years since the inception of the world wide web) But in the end; we will all have the same freedom and rights online as we should have in regular life; mark my words. Leading us directly to...

SIGNS AT THE PETERSON FIELD GATE ON DUNFORD WAY: THE BIRDLAND NEIGHBORHOOD HELD COUNTLESS PUBLIC HEARINGS REGARDING THE PETERSON FIELD; AND ONE NOW EX-SUNNYVALE CITY COUNCIL MEMBER EVEN ADMITTED TO WALKING HIS DOG AT THE PETERSON FIELD -- THE SIGN AT THE TOP IS NEW; BUT IT IS REALLY JUST A REHASH OF THE SAME OLD SIGNS THAT HAVE BEEN (IGNORED) THERE FOR 5 DECADES.

ALMOST ALL OF THE PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES LISTED CONTINUE TO THIS DAY; SO NEW SIGNS REGARDING VISITORS FOR ALL INTENTS AND PURPOSES MEAN ABSOLUTELY NOTHING -- YOU ARE FREE TO MOVE ABOUT YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD AND YOU ARE NOT A CRIMINAL FOR DOING SO...AND IF YOU DON'T NEED A PERMIT TO VOTE AT PETERSON MIDDLE SCHOOL; YOU DON'T NEED A PERMIT TO EXERCISE THERE EITHER...

If over a million people supposedly gave their lives during various wars so we could all supposedly be free; why the hell are we not equally free when it comes to our online activities -- and why the hell are we not free to exercise down at the Peterson field when we want to as many of us have all done for over five decades now?

(FUN FACT: did you know Steve Wozniak used to occasionally smoke weed down at the Peterson field with my old buddy Craig? yup > oh! and by the way; whoever is partying and drinking beer on warm summer nights out in the Peterson field; please put your bottles in the garbage bags by the bleachers. Also; there is an annual July 4th gathering of people who watch various south bay fireworks shows from the Peterson bleachers at around 9 PM; so if you choose to attend just be mellow and please don't cause any trouble. Thank you)

Note: If you must use the Peterson field to exercise during school hours; do it when there are no P.E. students on the field. In other words; if you see a large stampeding herd of similarly dressed people wearing P.E. uniforms moving towards the track; simply exit the field and perhaps return later when they go back into class.

SCUSD summer break starts 10 June 2016 and ends 17 August 2016;
this is the best time to exercise at the Peterson field.

This unconstitutional trend started back when our youth were suddenly being forcefully incarcerated against their wills after school at home; and farther back in the 1990s when an unconstitutional night time curfew was established during the Clinton administration to curtail gang activity in San Jose -- making countless innocent young non-gang members pay with their freedoms -- and in the process starting a dangerous new gradual and unconstitutional  "slow erosion of rights" trend that now affects us all. And this of course led directly to other things like the "no fly list" which countless Americans have been placed upon without their knowledge; violating the unalienable rights of yet another HUGE cross section of American people.

By the way; this was the first young generation in 200+ years of American history to be deprived of Life; Liberty and The Pursuit of Happiness.

Then about a decade or so later; the highly unconstitutional "sex offender" double jeopardy GPS-leg-clamp-job-security-for-cops program began; limiting the freedoms of yet another large cross section of American citizens. Adding to this; a "prison lock down" mentality now permeates K-12 education from coast to coast; in a very large sense effectively making K-12 schools more like federally-funded prisons than anything else. Note: Why do we treat kids like criminals and incarcerate them inside the house after school because of the alleged presence of actual criminals?

This trend could very well ultimately turn on us all later on when this young generation who never had any real freedom grows up; takes control of society -- and decides to pull our bed pans out at our nursing homes (for instance) -- so until this awful; unconstitutional and/or oppressive trend is somehow curtailed and/or ended; it will remain as a continued threat to the community at large.

After years of emotionally demagogic fear-based corporate-controlled news broadcasts aimed at securing unconstitutional legislation; almost everyone is now a potential criminal suspect -- because while it may take a village to raise a child -- the entire village is now under suspicion. When I grew up; parents who kept their kids inside all the time were either abusive or just mentally ill and/or paranoid -- but now almost all parents are required by law to be like this.

And I cannot help but think this is all part of the "New World Order" (NWO) philosophy that so many people talk about -- if so; this alleged "NWO philosophy" needs to be crushed under the weight of freedom and all of her constituents.

The next issue that needs to be discussed is the Butcher Ranch property. After posting information about this property in the last Birdland Editorial Blog; the City of Sunnyvale is perhaps (hopefully) feeling the heat and seems to have expedited the development process by posting signs on the property asking for interest from potential residents. But the Butcher property is just as historic as the Olsen family heritage orchard (once seized by the City of Sunnyvale; then given back and permanently protected) therefore it needs protection as well.

TELL THE CITY OF SUNNYVALE TO PROTECT BUTCHER'S CORNER!

CITY COUNCIL @ council@sunnyvale.ca.gov

The Butcher property is one of the last remnants of the "Valley of Heart's Delight"  a last bit of orchard land left from this Valleys' proud agricultural history.

Mustard weed still grows at Butcher Ranch from seeds initially left along the historic El Camino Real by Spanish Missionaries long ago; and the Raynor park neighborhood is equally historic in that it was built for migrant farm workers in 1947 right after WWII for people who worked on the Butcher property land etc. (The Oasis Nightclub was built at around the same time; therefore it perhaps needs historic status as well).

Therefore; Butchers corner should ultimately be protected and perhaps named "Butcher Park" with orchard trees and most other trees and wildlife habitat left intact; and semi-naturalized with paths and benches (and maybe even a skate park so Lik Roper "Superfan" Chris Moon and his friends can ride their skateboards there; right next to Believe board shop. This makes perfect sense).

The Butcher property is like a gateway Sunnyvale property of sorts; on the corner of Wolfe Road; El Camino Real and Fremont  -- making it an important parcel to protect.

Some of the old buildings on the property could be left intact and perhaps restored and left intact as historic monuments as well; perhaps serving as sheds for park maintenance equipment etc. Not only would people from all around be drawn to the historic Butcher Ranch property; but a skate park would also draw skaters from all over -- putting Sunnyvale into the "cool city" category instead of the "geek city" that it is now. While many of the other major new apartment building developments in this area may be good ideas; the Butcher Ranch idea clearly is not.
